Artificial Intelligence is Transforming Digital Sexuality in Germany

In Germany, nearly one in three adults has already used artificial intelligence for sexuality-related activities over the past year. This emerging practice is gradually becoming part of the digital daily life, particularly through varied uses such as seeking information about sexuality, consuming algorithm-generated pornographic content, or engaging in exchanges with virtual assistants specializing in intimate advice.

Men, young adults, and non-heterosexual individuals are the most likely to adopt these new forms of interaction. Nearly 42% of men surveyed report having tried at least one such activity, compared to only 22% of women. The gap is even more pronounced among young people aged 18 to 39, more than half of whom have already explored these possibilities, compared to just 15% of those over 60. Non-heterosexual individuals, meanwhile, show a participation rate of 43%, well above the average for heterosexuals, which stands at 30%.

The most common activities include consulting sexual information produced by intelligent tools, consuming synthetic pornography, or engaging in dialogues with virtual agents acting as advisors. These agents, capable of simulating personalized exchanges, address needs ranging from simple curiosity to more in-depth support on health or relationship issues. Less common, but equally revealing, are cases where artificial intelligence is used to facilitate exchanges between human partners, such as optimizing messages or using connected toys.

User satisfaction remains moderate but generally positive. The most appreciated interactions are those offering a high degree of personalization, such as creating custom erotic content or engaging with virtual agents designed to replicate a form of intimate complicity. In contrast, the mere consumption of automatically generated content garners less interest, with slightly lower satisfaction ratings.

These trends reflect a broader evolution in sexual behaviors in the digital age. Artificial intelligence no longer merely reproduces existing content: it adapts, enriches, and sometimes even anticipates it, offering tailor-made experiences. The differences observed between demographic groups further confirm that these tools meet distinct expectations, whether for curiosity, information-seeking, or compensation for a lack of representation in traditional spaces.

Germany, with its often cautious approach to new technologies, provides a particularly interesting field of study. Despite a marked cultural skepticism toward innovation, the adoption of these practices remains significant, proving that the appeal of digital experiences sometimes outweighs initial reservations. Seniors, though fewer in number to engage in these activities, also show a notable presence, challenging the notion that age is a barrier to technological or sexual exploration.
